A Texas woman experienced her own nightmare on Elm Street last Tuesday when a renovation crew unearthed a coffin with bones inside of it in her backyard.
Deedee Oliveira, who lives on Elm Street in Mission, Texas, said a work crew was doing renovations in her backyard when they hit something hard last week, KGBT-TV reported.
The crew used an excavator to unearth the object, which ended up being a small coffin, KGBT reported.
“I’m like, ‘A coffin? What do you mean a coffin?'” Oliveira told the news station. “I can’t even explain it, it was huge, it had the handles. It was really rusted, and it had bags wrapped around it.”
Oliveira said one of the workers told her they saw bones inside of the coffin and “little booties and pink little bears.”
Police were called to the house and determined that the bones belonged to a dog. Neighbors said the coffin was likely underground for 30 years and the remains belonged to the previous owner’s cocker spaniel, KGBT-TV reported.
“Thank God it was a dog and not human remains, if not I think I would’ve gone crazy,” Oliveira told KGBT-TV.Click here for reuse options!
